How your home feels

A room’s light is easy to feel and hard to name. These twelve words are the naming — one for each part of the wheel, fixed, so the same light is always called the same thing: by the app, by a scene, and by us.

  • Resting
  • Intimate
  • Warm
  • Welcoming
  • Radiant
  • Relaxed
  • Balanced
  • Renewed
  • Refreshed
  • Clear
  • Focused
  • Inspired

Move the light

A room, and a day

Below is a room and a day. Move the day and the light moves with it, the way Circadian would. Move brightness or warmth and the light becomes yours instead. Either way, the room is named as you go.

The room feels Welcoming

Following the day

The room feels Welcoming. Following the day.

This is a drawing, not a photograph, and it is a simplification: a screen cannot show you what a lit room feels like to stand in. What it can show is the shape of the change, and which word each light lands on. Individual experiences vary.

Fixed wording

Why twelve words

Twelve is enough to be specific and few enough to remember. The words are fixed wording: not paraphrased, not reordered, and never added to, because a vocabulary that drifts stops being one.
